"The Sandwich Report"

I did a favor for one of my favorite comic book writers Kurt Busiek on Friday.

MOCCA [Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art] Festival happened in New York City this past weekend. I was very ambivalent about it, having been the all the previous incarnations, and partially because it's at the 69th Armory. I was at the 69th Armory last month for the Village Voice 3rd Annual Choice Eats Tasting Event, which was pretty fun in itself, but the venue is old and dated. Unfortunately, New York City lacks comparable sized venue space.

My suggestion would be that MOCCA hold their annual festival at One Hanson Place in Brooklyn, next to the Atlantic Terminal, where The Brooklyn Flea was housed during the winter [see photo below]. The major drawback is that there is no real place for panels, but the bonus is the amazing food being served there like lobster rolls from the Red Hook Lobster Pound. Maybe The Brooklyn Flea can go without their usual vendors for one weekend.

Blog to you later.
